INSTINC Artist Residency Singapore: Many Cultures, One Passion

Opportunity Description
INSTINC seeks artists whose work is unique, demonstrates clear ideas and a fresh artistic approach, and is relevant to contemporary art today.

Proud to be one of the pioneers of artist-in-residence programs in Singapore. INSTINCAIR program was started in 2009 by Singaporean artist Shih Yun Yeo.  Since inception, the program has been created for artists who appreciate the importance of a conducive studio for artistic production and a very comfortable, convenient space for living. They are an independent artist-run space, set up for artists to pursue their practice with a high level of support and flexibility.

Established in 2004, INSTINC is an artist-run institution that promotes a new language of art. Following the tradition of painting, INSTINC has pushed the paradigm to realize a wide array of art forms, including but not limited to installation, performance and video art. One of INSTINC’s key mission is to encourage collaboration, cultural exchange and sharing of ideas in contemporary art with local as well as international artists. Through exhibitions, art workshops, artists’ talks & collaborations, INSTINC aims to establish an exciting platform where artists and public can engage with contemporary art and critical discourses.

Singapore is fast becoming an art incubator; recently named as one of the world’s top 12 cities to watch for exciting contemporary art and internationally recognized for its dynamic, young, contemporary arts scene.
